Willian Jose delivered his best performance so far in a Wolverhampton Wanderers shirt to help Nuno Espirito Santo’s side to a 2-1 win against Arsenal.
The Brazilian forward made his first appearance at Molineux and although he didn’t manage to grab his first goal for the club, Willian more than played his part in an impressive victory for the hosts.
A second half stunner from Joao Moutinho handed Wolves their first Premier League success in nine attempts after Ruben Neves’ penalty had cancelled out Nicolas Pepe’s opener for Arsenal.
Mikel Arteta’s side had David Luiz sent off on the stroke of half-time, while goalkeeper Bernd Leno also saw red late on.
After the VAR came to Wolves’ rescue to rule out Bukayo Saka’s first-half strike for an offside in the build-up, the visitors found a way through again.
Pepe eventually gave the Gunners the lead in the 32nd minute, beating Nelson Semedo and Ruben Neves before curling a shot into the far corner.
Wolves were level when Craig Pawson pointed to the spot just before the break and gave Luiz his marching orders. Neves confidently dispatched the penalty and Wolves had 45 minutes to get the better of 10 men.
They only needed five. The ball reached Moutinho 25 yards from Leno’s goal and the veteran rattled it in off the post.
