Watch now: Manchesters First Trophy – Manchester City FC

The 1904 FA Cup. The first trophy won by Manchester City – or, indeed, by any Manchester club.

It’s a moment that remains a key part of the Club’s development; the platform on which our later success was built.

And we are delighted to announce that we are now the proud custodian of the 1896 – 1910 Football Association Challenge Cup (FA Cup) following the recent purchase of the trophy at auction by Club owner, His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed.

It was originally feared that the trophy – considered by The Arts Council to be an item of International Historic Significance – would be privately purchased and taken overseas, however, the trophy will now remain in England for the benefit of English Football.

To commemorate our 1904 FA Cup victory, a documentary has been produced by CityTV which charts the story of the Cup Final and the Club’s journey in the competition up to the present day.

The 24-minute feature includes archive footage and exclusive interviews with Club Historian Dr Gary James, first-team stars Raheem Sterling, Steph Houghton and Georgia Stanway, former players Joleon Lescott and Gareth Barry, Club Ambassador Mike Summerbee, Alex Jackson (Curator at the National Football Museum) and Tim Desmond (Chief Executive at the National Football Museum).
