Manchester United’s pursuit of Jadon Sancho saw a major development occur when Borussia Dortmund publicly announced that he will not be leaving this summer, only for the Premier League club to retain full confidence that they will sign him before the 5 October deadline. However, a £100m offer was reportedly rejected as soon as Dortmund announced their intention to keep Sancho this season.

Arsenal are on the verge of completing the deal for Willian after he left Chelsea, and interest in Lille defender Gabriel Magalhaes is growing with the club one of many in for his signature. Speaking of Arsenal, their former midfielder Aaron Ramsey is available this summer after Andrea Pirlo informed him that he is not in his Juventus plans next season.

Chelsea meanwhile have agreed a five-year deal with Bayer Leverkusen midfielder Kai Havertz, but the asking price remains a problem with the German club now wanting £90m to let him leave this summer. The Blues are also looking at signing Ajax defender Nicolas Tagliafico as an alternative to Ben Chilwell, while Liverpool snapped up their left-back target by signing Kostas Tsimikas on a five-year deal from Olympiakos last night. Good news for Chelsea: The club have agreed a five-year deal for Bayer Leverkusen midfielder Kai Havertz, who is set to follow Timo Werner in swapping the Bundesliga for the Premier League with a move to Stamford Bridge.

 

Bad news for Chelsea: They’re yet to agree a fee with Leverkusen, who have now upped their asking price to £90m in light of Dortmund’s hardline stance on Jadon Sancho’s valuation.

 

That’s according to French outlet RMC Sport, who say that the two clubs remain miles apart on the attacking midfielder’s valuation.

The Independent’s Tom Kershaw revealed way back in February that Everton were not just in the market for the Lille defender, but on the verge of signing him for a €30m fee – only for the coronavirus pandemic to put all moves on hold and force the agreement to collapse.

 

That has allowed the big fish to come sniffing, and Arsenal, Manchester United and Napoli have all registered their interest in signing the Brazilian 22-year-old.

One familiar name for Arsenal fans is Aaron Ramsey, whose experimental move to Juventus looks to be drawing to a premature close.

 

Ramsey left Arsenal on a free transfer last summer after he was not offered a new contract, securing a sensational move to the Italian champions on a handsome £250,000-a-week contract.

 

But his time in Turin has not gone as well as hoped, and although Juventus won the Serie A title once more, he started only 11 league games this season. 

 

With Andrea Pirlo surprisingly installed as manager, a shake-up is expected at Juventus and The Mirror reports that Ramsey has been told he is free to find a new club, although his wage demands do make a quick exit difficult. The report adds that the Wales international will not be the only player heading for the exit, with Gonzalo Higuain, Sami Khedira, Daniele Rugani, Mattia De Sciglio and Blaise Matuidi all made available to other clubs.

That’s not the only player on the horizon at Arsenal.

 

Interest is growing in Lille’s Brazilian defender Gabriel Magalhaes, with a number of clubs looking to lure him away from the Ligue 1 side after their impressive 2019/20 season, with widespread reports that Arsenal are leading the race.

 

The 22-year-old is being valued at £27m and has been identified as a player who would strengthen Arsenal’s defence, and it has also emerged since the weekend that the player’s brother AND sister have both started following Arsenal on Instagram in the last few days.

 

If that’s not the obvious transfer hint of 2020, I don’t know what is.

Arsenal are on the verge of sealing a move for free agent Willian after the Brazilian announced his departure from Chelsea.

 

The 32-year-old leaves Stamford Bridge after seven trophy-laden years at the club, having won two Premier League titles, the FA Cup and League Cup and the Europa League, having rejected their two-year contract extension.

 

He will not have to move far, with the winger on the verge of signing for Premier League rivals Arsenal in a deal that could be agreed as early as today, with the Gunners offering him a three-year deal on £100,000-a-week with a handsome £10m signing-on fee.

 

Willian underwent a medical at Arsenal’s London Colney training base yesterday, according to the Evening Standard, and is expected to be unveiled as Arsenal’s newest signing later today.

Tottenham are set to announce the move for Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg TODAY after the Danish midfielder successfully passed a medical at the club’s training base yesterday.

 

Sky Sports report that the club are ready to announce the deal in the coming hours, which will see Hojbjerg join Spurs for a £15m fee that could rise to £19m in add-ons, while Kyle Walker-Peters is set to move in the opposite direction to Southampton for £12m that will offset the fee.

Following Manchester United’s 1-0 AET victory over FC Copenhagen on Monday night, which puts the club through to the Europa League semi-finals in Cologne, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was asked for the latest on the Sancho pursuit from United’s side of the table.

 

The Norwegian wasn’t exactly giving much away thought…

However, it’s understood that talks between the two clubs have not officially taken place since 8 August, and that United are becoming somewhat frustrated with Dortmund’s refusal to do business directly as they conduct their transfer operations through an agent.

No sooner than Dortmund’s defiant stance over Sancho’s future was made public than news emerged of a rejected offer worth £89.8m, which fell short of the Bundesliga club’s valuation.

 

Italian football reporter Tancredi Palmeri reports that United attempted to low-ball Dortmund with an offer that falls some £20m shy of their £108m asking price, which is likely the reason why Dortmund felt the need to speak out so aggressively in their decision not to sell the 20-year-old.

Where else to begin this morning than with the developing transfer saga surrounding Jadon Sancho.

 

The England forward is the top target for Manchester United, who have made it clear they will not be rushed into spending more than they believe he is worth in the current economic climate.

 

However, Borussia Dortmund gave them a deadline date of 10 August (yesterday) and after failing to meet it, Dortmund’s CEO Michael Zorc issued a statement confirming that Sancho will remain a Dortmund player next season and the move to United is off.

 

United have taken that statement with a pinch of salt, given that they have until 5 October to sign players from abroad, and will continue to pursue Sancho at a pace that they see fit.
