Tottenham fans spot what Dele Alli did before the January transfer window closed – Football.London

Mauricio Pochettino’s appointment as the new Paris Saint-Germain head coach sparked talk of a reunion with Dele Alli.

The England international was a key player during Pochettino‘s reign at Tottenham Hotspur, but has found himself out of favour under Jose Mourinho this season.

And even before the January transfer window opened, it was reported that his first transfer mission would be to raid his former club for the 24-year-old.

However, the window closed on Monday night with Alli still in north London.

But hours before the 11pm deadline, both Paul Merson and Harry Redknapp suggested that Spurs will be a better side with Alli in the side.

And it would appear that the England international agrees.

As spotted by @thespursweb and uploaded to Twitter, Alli ‘liked’ posts from Sky Sports and talkSPORT which carried quotes from the aforementioned duo.

This prompted some chatter amongst other Spurs fans.

@jack_thfc_ said: “If this guy doesn’t get minutes on Thursday then I might be done.”

@C9_thfc said: “This situation is only gonna get worse and more toxic now that levy has forced him to stay out of fear of not getting a decent sum ahead of summer.”

@JohanArdiW said: “Mou out, just out please.”

@mrmstoney said: “Play him in the creator role behind Son. Bale has had a try and failed dismally. He didn’t look the slightest bit interested. When the window closes it’s a good time to call a truce between Mourinho and Alli because, whether they like it or not, they’re stuck with each other.”

As reported by football.london, a reason for Alli not leaving in the January window is down to squad issues.

Spurs would have needed to bring in a replacement for Alli on loan but that was always going to be problematic due to the number of non-homegrown players they currently have in the squad.

Having three more than the 17 permitted foreign players in the Europa League prior to Gedson Fernandes and Paulo Gazzaniga’s exit, in an ideal world the club would have needed to bring in a homegrown player if Alli had been given the green light to move to Paris.
