Said Benrahma fails West Ham medical placing £25m transfer from Brentford in jeopardy – Mirror Online

West Ham have been rocked by the news that Said Benrahma has failed his medical – placing his £25million move back in jeopardy.

Mirror Sport understands the deal is not completely dead but the terms of the deal could be restructured with the player leaving for considerably less than the fee agreed.

The issue is understood to relate to blood tests which have been submitted for “reinvestigation”.

West Ham learned the news early on Friday morning and have been working with Brentford to find a way to keep the deal alive.

West Ham had been pushing ahead with the transfer anyway following a fall-out between the player and his Championship club, believed to be financial.

That was resolved on his return from international duty on Wednesday, leading to a rearranged medical on Thursday. But the deal now looks to be off unless a solution to the current problem can be found by 5pm.

The setback is the latest body blow in a protracted series of events surrounding the Hammers’ pursuit of Brentford’s Algerian winger.

Benrahma had been unhappy with the Bees earlier this week over what he’d seen as a broken promise made to him by the club.

An attempt last weekend to placate him was rebuffed by the player.

But Benrahma met with Brentford Co-Director of Football Phil Giles on his return from Algeria’s international friendly against Mexico on Tuesday night to straighten out the issue.

The winger met with West Ham to discuss personal terms, speak to boss David Moyes and undergo his medical on Thursday.

Now, though, the Bees are facing a race against time if he is to secure his dream move.
