Manchester United defender Brandon Williams would prefer to move to another Premier League club should he secure a loan transfer this month, according to a report.
The left-back has struggled for minutes this term, playing only six minutes of top-flight action.
Indeed, despite his fantastic breakthrough season in 2019/20, he finds himself down the pecking order. What’s more, October signing Alex Telles has added to the competition down the left flank.
As such, reports have surfaced that Newcastle and Southampton have shown serious interest in signing him on a temporary deal.
In fact, one report suggested that the Magpies have agreed a deal in principle with the 20-year-old.
According to the Manchester Evening News, Williams is pushing to leave Old Trafford this month.
What’s more, his desire is to switch Premier League clubs, so a move to either aforementioned side would suit him.
However, another report – from The Athletic – has said that Everton have joined the race.
The source claims that negotiations with the Toffees are ‘live’, but does not state how far those talks have gone.
Ultimately, though, the latter publication adds that United would like Williams to stick around in Manchester and ignore the prospect of joining another club.
Indeed, Red Devils boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer reportedly has his eye on the knockout stages of the Europa League. With the season as contracted as it is, the Norwegian may increase the left-back’s game time as the season wears on.
Bailly talks up Diallo talents
As talk of Williams’ departure grows, excitement has continued to build about new United signing Amad Diallo.
The 18-year-old winger has cost the Red Devils around £37million from Atlanta and has a big future ahead of him.
Indeed, his talents have been backed by first-team star Eric Bailly.
