Man City updates on Raheem Sterling and Sergio Aguero for Arsenal FC game – Manchester Evening News

Manchester City could welcome Raheem Sterling and Sergio Aguero back to face Arsenal.

Kevin De Bruyne has added to Pep Guardiola’s injury worries with the Belgian joining Gabriel Jesus on the sidelines after picking up a problem on international duty.

However, Sterling has trained “much better in the last few days” after pulling out of the England squad with a minor hamstring injury and should be in contention for the Premier League game against Mikel Arteta’s side.

And there could also be a place in the squad for Aguero, who has not been seen in a City shirt since hobbling out of a game with Burnley back in June. The Argentine striker trained with his teammates at the start of the international break for the first time since that injury, and a final decision will be made on Saturday morning to see whether he is able to be included.

Aguero himself is feeling good about his condition, and Guardiola is happy to have his star striker back with the squad as they face up to another busy run of games in the league and Champions League.

“We have training in the morning and we’ll decide if he’s fit,” said the manager. “He’s trained well the last two or three days but we cannot forget he was four or five months out. But it is good news as we start again with this amount of games. We will try to handle the minutes if we decide to play him. We will see.”
