Musician and famous Manchester City fan Liam Gallagher has taken to social media to send a message to the young Aston Villa squad who took on Liverpool in the FA cup on Friday night.
A number of positive Coronavirus tests in the first-team squad at Bodymoor Heath meant that players and staff were forced into a ten-day period of self-isolation as a precaution.
However, after discussions with the FA on Thursday and Friday, the decision was made for the cup tie at Villa Park still to go ahead.
That meant that Villa turned to their young players to take to the pitch against the Premier League champions.
Sadio Mane’s fourth-minute goal may have had both the fans and players thinking the worst, but the kids held their own against Jurgen Klopp’s big-hitters, drawing level through Louie Barry just before half-time in what will be one of the moments of this year’s competition.
Liverpool did retake the lead in the second half, eventually coming out as 4-1 winners thanks to goals from Georgino Wijnaldum, Mo Salah and a second from Mane.
But it was Villa’s kids who got all the plaudits for their performance in a game which will do wonders in their continuing development.
In our daily Aston Villa bulletin, we’ll be bringing you the latest breaking news, transfer features and comment pieces, as well as the key talking points for fans.

The opposition, including manager Jurgen Klopp, James Milner, Jordan Henderson and the club themselves have praised the performance of the young Villa team, as well as the wider football community.
And Gallagher also joined in the praise at the full-time whistle.
“Respect to the villa yoot LG x” he tweeted after the game.
Gallagher’s team, Man City have had a recent title rivalry with Liverpool, with both teams battling it out for the Premier League title in recent seasons.
