Tottenham legend Graham Roberts has claimed on Twitter that in terms of ‘style’ Aston Villa’s Jack Grealish is the ‘closest’ he has seen to Paul Gascoigne.
Even though England suffered a 2-0 defeat at the hands of Belgium in the UEFA Nations League last night, Grealish stood head and shoulders above any Englishman on the pitch.
It was the boyhood Villa fans first competitive start for his country, and after months of calls for him to start a game of such magnitude, it feels as though he has won over a lot of people.
Tottenham and Rangers legend Roberts was impressed with what Grealish produced on the night and he made quite the claim about the Solihull-born playmaker.
It has been well-documented that Tottenham were a team who were keen on Grealish’s services when Villa were in the Championship and he was coming through.
At the time, more people from the outside were unsure of where his talents were going to take him, whilst those inside the Villa camp were pretty sure he was only headed one way.
And here he is! Competing against the best of the best.
A fully-fledged England international and currently one of the best players in the Premier League, at this moment in time.
Not many players in Europe are in the form Grealish is in and it seems he has now gone from potential England star to someone you should build your team around in the space of no time.
