Derby County dealt final blow in transfer bid for Liverpools Harry Wilson – report – Derbyshire Live

Derby County look to have lost out in their bid to bring Harry Wilson back to Pride Park.

Rams boss Phillip Cocu described the club’s chances of signing the winger on loan from Liverpool as “very unlikely” on Thursday.

And Wilson, who spent a season on loan at Derby in 2018-19, is now said to have agreed a deal to join their Championship rivals, Cardiff City, on loan, according to The Athletic.

The Premier League champions will reportedly receive a loan fee in excess of £1m for the Wales international and Cardiff will cover all of his wages.

Asked about the 23-year-old Welsh international, Cocu said: “First of all, he is a great player, fantastic left foot, can play on the wing or as a striker but I think it will be very complicated to get him in the circumstances we are in at the moment at the club. I don’t think that will happen.

“It would be great if we had the luxury. Unfortunately, we don’t and that is why it is very unlikely at this stage. Maybe things will change, and maybe it can be different, but at this time and the situation, it is very unlikely.”
