The Betfred Cup last 16 draw, as ever, has thrown up some enticing ties.
Holders Celtic will begin their defence of the trophy they’ve won four years on the bounce with a home tie against Ross County.
Last season’s finalists Rangers, meanwhile, have been drawn away to League One Falkirk.
Aberdeen are always there or thereabouts in this competition and they’ve been paired with St Mirren.
The draw took place after Hibs’ 4-1 win over Dundee and those two have been drawn together in the knockout stage.
This tournament affords managers the chance to put a marker down for the rest of the season and no doubt the likes of Neil Lennon, Steven Gerrard and Derek McInnes will be desperate to lift the silverware.
It may be Scotland’s third trophy but the is still highly sought after and triumph in the competition can set the tone for the rest of the season.
All ties are to be played on November 28/29.
