Ben Davies could make Liverpool debut against Brighton but Ozan Kabak facing wait – Liverpool Echo

New signing Ben Davies could make an instant Liverpool debut against Brighton this evening.

But fellow deadline-day arrival Ozan Kabak is poised to wait for his first involvement with the world champions.

With the Reds keen to bolster their centre-back options after Joel Matip joined Virgil van Dijk and Joe Gomez on the sidelines, Davies moved to Anfield on Monday from Championship side Preston North End. in a deal worth an initial £500,000.

The 25-year-old is expected to go straight into the squad for tonight’s Premier League clash at home to Brighton.

Kabak, meanwhile, required international clearance after being snapped up from Bundesliga side Schalke on loan until the end of the season.

And the 20-year-old Turkey international is not yet eligible to begin his Liverpool career in earnest.

It means Kabak will most likely be first involved in Sunday’s visit of Premier League leaders Manchester City.

Despite the new arrivals, Klopp has already indicated Jordan Henderson and Nat Phillips will continue at centre-back this evening.

“We play obviously different to Preston and obviously different to Schalke, that’s clear,” said the Reds boss on Tuesday.

“So if they would have to start tomorrow night together, I think that would be not too cool. But we will give them a few more days.”

Liverpool can once again move a point behind second-placed Manchester United with victory over Brighton.
